Flat Rent Provision Changes
This is notification that, effective January 1, 2025, The LaFollette Housing Authority (LHA) is making adjustments to comply with HUD’s flat rent provision. Flat rents must be at least 80% of the current fiscal year’s Fair Market Rents (FMR) by bedroom size within a specific state/county, and they serve as a rent cap for tenants whose income-based rent would be higher than the established flat rents. Since flat rent amounts are tied to each fiscal year’s published and approved Fair Market Rents, there is a possibility that they will increase each year. Remember, this is a rent cap for those whose income-based rent would be higher than the flat rate. Income-based rent will remain the choice for most LHA families.
FLAT RENT AMOUNTS EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2026

If you have questions or comments concerning these flat rent changes, please contact your Property Manager or Teresa Roy, Director of Public Housing.
