The purpose of this notice is to notify interested individuals that effective immediately the Housing Choice Voucher applications will be taken Monday through Friday at 809 South Fourth Street, LaFollette, TN located directly across the street from the LaFollette Housing Authority Central Office.
Each applicant must meet one of the four local preferences listed below:
1. RENT BURDEN. (Must be renting & paying over 50% of gross monthly income toward rent & utilities combined.) Must have rented for the last three months at the same location. The following items to be provided:
· Three months rent receipts
· Three months utility bill receipts
· Income verification
· Social Security card for each family member
· Birth Certificate for each family member
2. INVOLUNTARY DISPLACEMENT. (Must provide verification from current landlord that the property has been sold or that the landlord has asked the applicant to move for other reasons and the applicant is absolutely not at fault).
3. SUBSTANDARD HOUSING. (The dwelling unit does not provide safe, adequate shelter; has one or more critical defects or a combination of defects requiring considerable repair; endangers the health, safety, and well being of the family. Also “Homeless Families” that lack a fixed, regular and adequate nighttime residence; AND have a primary nighttime residence that is a supervised public or private shelter providing temporary accommodations (including welfare hotels, congregate shelters and transitional housing), or an institution providing temporary residence for individuals intended to be institutionalized, or a public or private place not ordinarily used as a sleeping accommodation for human beings.)
4. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. (Applicant must provide verification from someone in an official position that he/she has been a victim of domestic violence; verification can be provided by a police officer, judge, social worker, pastor, domestic violence facility, etc.)
